Wisdom Teeth Removal in Edmonton

The wisdom teeth are the final set of molars to emerge, usually growing between ages 15 to 25. Unfortunately, many people don’t have enough space in their jaws for the wisdom teeth to grow properly, so the teeth can become misaligned or impact your other molars. In these cases, we recommend that the wisdom teeth be removed before they emerge from the gums.

Procedure

The wisdom teeth are removed in a surgical procedure. Your dentist will make incisions in the gum above each wisdom tooth and extract the tooth. The procedure is performed under local anesthetic, and we offer sedative options, including IV sedation. After the teeth are removed, we close the incisions with sutures.

Recovery

Recovery usually takes two or three days. During recovery you may experience pain, swelling, and discomfort in the surgical area. We may prescribe pain medication to help with the pain. You will need to return to our office for a checkup and to have your sutures removed.
