Dental Implants in Edmonton

Dental implants are permanent synthetic tooth roots that support prosthetic teeth, bridges, or dentures. They’re a lifetime alternative to dentures or bridges to replace teeth that have been completely lost. With implants, you can eat chewy or hard food and they won’t affect your speech. They also work to prevent bone loss in your jaws and can help preserve the shape of your mouth after you’ve lost one or more natural teeth.

How implants work

As their name suggests, dental implants are implanted in your jaw. The implant procedure involves making an incision in the gums above the area where the implant will go, drilling a small hole in the jawbone, and placing the implant in the hole. Over a period of time, usually 2-3 months, the bone heals around the implant and bonds with it. Once the implant is bonded, we can attach a crown, bridge, or denture to replace the missing tooth or teeth.
