Dr. Sean Bhasin
Dr. Sean Bhasin graduated from the University of Detroit-Mercy, School of Dentistry in 1997. Immediately after graduation, he joined the US Air Force as a Captain and worked as a staff Dentist. In the year 2000, Dr. Bhasin was honorably discharged from the Air Force and he moved back to MI to join a private practice. In 2002, Dr. Bhasin bought a practice in Fenton, MI, where he practiced until 2009 prior to moving to Edmonton with his family. Dr. Bhasin is married to his beautiful wife Seema, and they have two wonderful boys, Rohan and Shaan.
Dr. Bhasin’s practice philosophy has always been to give his patients the best treatment possible. He truly enjoys giving a patient the treatment they need or a smile they’ve always wanted as he knows how much a new smile can change a person’s life – not just their health. In his free time, Dr. Bhasin likes to travel with his family, read, and have some active fun with his boys.
Dr. Nathan Kern
Dr. Nathan Kern graduated from the University of Alberta in 1994. He practices all aspects of dentistry, including orthodontics, implants, and root canals, and loves treating children. Over the years, Dr. Kern has made many trips overseas to provide dental care for impoverished people in third world countries.
He is married to his lovely wife Patti and they have 3 children: Jacob, Cameron, and Kendra. Dr. Kern is the team dentist for the EDMONTON OILERS (NHL) hockey club. An avid sportsman, he enjoys playing and coaching and currently coaches his sons in volleyball.
Dr. James Thomas
Born and raised in Edmonton, Dr. James Thomas studied at the University of Alberta and graduated in 1978. After graduation, he started his own practice at 178th Street which is now the west end location of Spearmint Dental. Dr. Thomas worked part-time as a clinical instructor in the dental faculty at UofA. He has traveled to Guatemala and Nicaragua and has completed 8 dental missions to third world countries. He currently volunteers at the student-operated Shine dental clinic.
Dr. Thomas is married to his lovely wife, Annie and they have four children and four grandchildren. He loves golf, hockey and mountain biking as well as being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Dr. Zhaokun (Zak) Huang
Dr. Zhaokun (Zak) Huang attended the University of Alberta where he graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Science degree in 2010 followed thereafter by a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2012. He has practiced general dentistry in Edmonton, Alberta since 2012.
His aim is to provide for every patient the kind of care and compassion that he would wish to receive should he be in their position.
Dr. Huang is licensed to practice general dentistry by the Alberta Dental Association and College. He is a member of the Canadian Dental Association.
He pursues a variety of continuing education in order to expand the range of treatment that he can provide to patients. His latest endeavor is with the Kois Center in Seattle, Washington: an institute with a focus on research and clinical philosophy in the area of advanced restorative dentistry.
Dr. Zak’s special interest is in pediatric dentistry, an inclination that he developed during a rural rotation to High Level and La Crete in his senior year of dental school.
Dr. Zak was born in a rural part of northern China. He and his family immigrated to Canada during his childhood. He is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese and he makes his best effort to speak limited French and Spanish to help make patients more comfortable.
Away from practice, Dr. Zak is actively involved in tennis and swimming, enjoys cooking, and stays close with his loving family.
Dr. Alec Tsiatserski
Dr. Aleh Tsiatserski (Dr. Alec) was born in Bobruisk, Belarus. In 1998, after graduation from Bobruisk Medical College and serving in Belarusian Military Forces, he was admitted to the Faculty of Dentistry of the Belarusian State Medical University. After his graduation in 2003, he completed his 1-year residency training in Lida`s District Dental Clinic and worked there as a general dentist till his immigration to Canada. In 2007 Dr. Tsiatserski graduated from Belarusian Medical Academy of Secondary Education as a Doctor of Dental Surgery and combined his work in dental clinic with work as a dental surgeon in the District Hospital.
After immigration to Canada in 2009, Dr. Alec finished Dental Assisting program and worked for 2 years as a dental assistant before he decided to challenge qualification exams of the National Dental Examining Board of Canada. He obtained his Permit for General Practice in 2016. Since that time he has a full time position in our clinic. He is also a clinical instructor in the Bradin Centre for Skilled and Internationally Trained Professionals, member of the Canadian and Belarusian Dental Associations. Dr. Alec has a particular interest in restorative dentistry, crowns and bridges, partial and complete dentures, root canals, and surgery. Beside speaking English, Dr. Tsiatserski is fluent in Russian.
Dr. Tsiatserski is married to his wife Olga. They have one daughter: Margarita. Dr. Alec enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, fishing, gardening, beer and bread making.
